Recycling Ambassadors Program

The San Luis Obispo County’s Integrated Waste Management Authority (IWMA) is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to join our Recycling Ambassadors Program.

Whether you're passionate about sustainability or looking for community service hours, this is a great opportunity to make a positive impact. Service hour verification is available, and volunteer shifts are typically four hours or less.

As a Recycling Ambassador, you will:

• Staff waste-sorting stations at community events

• Help attendees sort materials correctly

• Collect data related to waste diversion and recycling efforts

• Educate the public about reducing waste and sustainable practices

Before your first event, you'll attend a brief training session and event orientation at our partner office in San Luis Obispo. ***Alternative meeting locations may be arranged upon request.

By volunteering, you'll gain valuable knowledge about waste reduction, responsible materials management, and proper recycling practices while participating in some of San Luis Obispo County's most popular events. Recycling Ambassadors also receive:

• An official Recycling Ambassador T-shirt

• IWMA giveaways and gifts

• Event-specific perks (varies by event)
