Executive Director - San Luis Obispo Integrated Waste Management Authority, California

The San Luis Obispo Integrated Waste Management Authority (IWMA) is located in beautiful San Luis Obispo County. The IWMA is a JPA with the mission of providing coordinated efforts to comply with state waste and recycling policy on behalf of its nine member agencies through practical, cost-effective programs, education, and technical support.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced California public sector manager with knowledge of California solid waste laws, rules, ordinances and the legislative process controlling solid waste management. To qualify, you should possess significant coursework in, or graduation from, an accredited college or university with a focus in business admin, public admin, marketing, environmental studies, or a related field and five years of professional experience with recycling or solid waste management, including at least four years of experience with administrative and supervisory responsibilities for marketing and/or public information, program planning and administration, and staff supervision.

The annual salary range for this position is up to $210,000 DOQ. The Authority offers an attractive benefit package including a 401(a) defined contribution retirement plan, a generous contribution to health insurance, post-employment healthcare plan, and paid leave.  This is not a CalPERS agency.

Interim Deputy Director (Limited Term - 4 Months)

The San Luis Obispo County Integrated Waste Management Authority is seeking a limited term Interim Deputy Director to assist the agency in its day-to-day operations. This is a limited-term position (four months) where the primary focus will be assisting the Executive Director in ensuring the smooth transition to a new management team. This is a contract position where the primary focus will be providing administrative support to the agency in forwarding its primary mission of keeping the agency’s member jurisdictions in compliance with state mandated solid waste regulations.

It is expected the position will required 28-30 hours of work per week. The IWMA maintains an “in-person” work arrangement at the agency’s new office at 555 Chorro St. For the full job description, please see the file below.
