Compost Rebate Program

If you purchase compost for your business, you could be eligible for the IWMA's Compost Rebate Program!

Senate Bill (SB) 1383 regulations require jurisdictions to annually procure organic waste products such as compost, mulch, renewable gas, or electricity from biomass, according to targets that are calculated based on population of the jurisdiction.

To help meet SB 1383 requirements and to stimulate market demand for recovered organic materials like compost, the San Luis Obispo County IWMA is excited to offer our Compost Rebate Program. We provide a $10 ton rebate on eligible purchases of compost made from recovered organic waste product locally.

As of July 01, 2024, our form process has streamlined! Purchasers, please review the program overview below before form submittal, and reach out to compost@iwma.com or call the IWMA at (805) 782-8530 if you have any questions.

How does the Compost Rebate Program work?

Step 1:   Review the complete Program Terms and Conditions (below), and purchase between 20 and 3,000 tons of compost from an approved facility.
