Mark Your Calendar
April is Earth Month — and there are a bunch of easy, fun ways to get involved locally, whether you’re bringing the kids, looking for something to do on a weekend, or just want to learn a little more about sustainability in our community.

SLO EarthFest (Santa Rosa Park, SLO) — Saturday, April 18, 2026 | 11 AM–5 PM
A big, family-friendly Earth Day celebration with booths, music, activities, and local climate solutions all in one place (free; registration required). Science Discovery will be tabling on behalf of IWMA — stop by the booth! SLO EarthFest

Drive Electric Earth Month EV Expo (at SLO EarthFest) — Saturday, April 18, 2026 | 11 AM–5 PM
Curious about EVs? This is a great chance to learn, ask questions, and see vehicles up close while you’re already at EarthFest. Drive Electric Earth Month

City of San Luis Obispo Earth Week
The City’s Earth Week page is a good place to check for updated City-specific activities and info as April gets closer. City of SLO Earth Week

Party for the Planet (Central Coast Zoo, Atascadero) — Saturday, April 18, 2026
If you want an Earth Day activity geared toward kids/families, the Zoo’s event is usually a fun one with hands-on learning. Party for the Planet

Greenspace Earth Day Celebration (Cambria) — Sunday, April 19, 2026 | 11 AM–3 PM
A North County option that’s very family-friendly, with activities and nature-focused programming.  Science Discovery will be tabling on behalf of IWMA at this event as well — stop by the booth! .  Greenspace Earth Day

Look for us there!

Science Discovery will be out in the community throughout Earth Month on behalf of IWMA at select events, including SLO EarthFest on April 18, Cambria Earth Day on April 19, Cal Poly Green Campus Earth Week on April 22, and the City of SLO Farmers Market on April 23. Stop by the booth to say hi, ask questions, and pick up helpful resources.

Can’t make it to an event? A simple Earth Month goal is to do one “waste win” a week: check the Waste Wizard before tossing items, refresh your recycling setup at home, and consider composting food scraps to reduce what goes into the landfill.
