Share Tables
Schools across the state use share tables as a method of organic waste reduction.
Share tables are carts or tables where children can place unconsumed food and beverage items that they choose not to eat or drink. These tables provide an oportunity for other children to take additional helpings of food or beverages at no cost.
Share table programs can be a great way for schools to reduce the amount of food waste generated by students, while increasing access to nutritious food for children from food-insecure homes. If implementing a share table, this should be in conjunction with organic waste recycling and edible food donation programs.
